Audio and Video Streaming for MU Courses
ET@MO and Division of IT are pleased to announce that audio and video streaming services are available to MU faculty for use in their courses at no cost. Other individuals needing to stream multimedia files not associated with an MU course should contact Division of IT (fees may apply): http://doit.missouri.edu/streaming.
Streaming media files can be used in many meaningful ways to improve understanding of course content. A streaming server has advantages over "regular" multimedia files placed on a "regular" web server because streaming servers are better able to adapt to the end user�s network bandwidth for best possible playback quality.

GUIDELINES FOR USE
The following guidelines will help balance the server resources with the number of people wanting to use it:
- Each faculty member account begins with a storage allotment of 1 Gigabyte. Increases to this level are at ET@MO staff discretion based on demonstrated need and consultation with the faculty member
- ET@MO will teach faculty members (and/or their assistants) how to encode and upload the media for streaming. Faculty members can use their own equipment or ET@MO�s video editing stations (Mac or PC) to encode their media. Those wishing to have the work done for them rather than doing it themselves should contact the Academic Support Center (fees may apply): http://web.missouri.edu/~umcascwww
- ET@MO will teach faculty members (and/or their assistants) how to upload files and create links to the streamed files from Blackboard or other web pages. Both QuickTime and Windows Media Streaming formats are available using these file formats. See FAQs above for more information
- At the end of each semester ET@MO staff will contact the faculty member to see if the space is needed for the following semester
- Only faculty accounts can be supported at this time. If your academic unit has the need for student accounts, please contact Boden Lyon to discuss other options
