Last chance to submit nominations for Excellence in Teaching with Technology award

The deadline to nominate someone for ET@MO's annual Excellence in Teaching with Technology Awards is March 31. The awards are presented in four categories: undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching, staff support, and graduate instructor/teaching assistant. MU faculty, staff and students are eligible to submit nominations. Self nominations are also accepted. To find out more, and submit nominations go to ET@MO's web site.

7 Things You Should Know About QR Codes

Named for their ability to offer a "Quick Response," QR codes are two-dimensional bar codes that can contain any alphanumeric text, such as a phone number or URL. The codes are increasingly found in places such as product labels, billboards, and buildings, inviting passers-by to pull out their reader-enabled mobile phones and uncover the encoded information. QR codes link the physical world with the virtual by providing on-the-spot access to descriptive language and online resources for objects and locations. Download the PDF of this full article. CWP brown bag discussion: "Teaching a WI course with the use of iMovie"
The Campus Writing Program hosts Jim Groves from Hotel and Restaurant Management . When most of us think of a WI course we think of students producing papers, projects, and other outcomes that are in the written form. This seminar will introduce you to the idea of having students produce a movie as their final class outcome. Come see a new way of helping students refine their communication skills on April 1 from 12:00 - 1:00 in the Conley House.

Visual Understanding Environment
Looking for a simple and free program for creating diagrams and alternative kinds of visual presentations. Tufts University has created the Visual Understanding Environment with this in mind. It is flexible, easy-to-use, and integrates well with other resources, such as ArtStor.

Take an iPhone/iPod Touch Screen Shot
Take a screenshot on your iPhone/iPod Touch by briefly pressing the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together. The screen will flash and the image will be saved to the iPhone Camera Roll or the iPod Photo albums for later reference, downloading, or emailing. (This works with version 2 software and higher.)
